How We Process Film
Nice Film Club develops every process in-house with professional chemistry and frame-by-frame corrected scanning. Every frame is individually adjusted for optimal density, color, and tone — never batch-processed.
C-41 Color Negative
The standard color negative process. C-41 is the most widely used film development process, producing color negatives that are scanned to create your final images.
E-6 Slide / Reversal
The color reversal (slide film) process. E-6 produces positive transparencies with vibrant, saturated colors. Slides can be projected or scanned.
Black & White
Traditional black and white processing. B&W film produces silver-based negatives with rich tonal range and classic monochrome aesthetics.
ECN-2 Motion Picture
The motion picture film process. ECN-2 is used for cinema film stocks like Kodak Vision3 and CineStill (when processed natively). Nice Film Club is one of the few mail-in labs offering ECN-2 processing.
How to Choose a Film Stock
For Everyday Shooting
Start with Kodak Gold 200 or Ultramax 400 for affordable, forgiving color film. ISO 400 gives you more flexibility in varied lighting.
For Portraits
Kodak Portra 400 is the professional standard — beautiful skin tones and extraordinary exposure latitude. Portra 160 for studio work in bright light.
For Black & White
Ilford HP5 Plus is the most versatile B&W film — pushable to 3200 and forgiving of exposure mistakes. Tri-X for punchier contrast.
For Cinematic Look
CineStill 800T for night/tungsten scenes with halation. For true cinema quality, try Kodak Vision3 with our ECN-2 processing.
For Vivid Color
Kodak Ektar 100 for the most saturated, sharpest color negative. E-6 slide films like Provia and Velvia for transparency-level saturation.
For Low Light
Portra 800 for events and indoor shooting without flash. CineStill 800T for city night photography. Push HP5 or Tri-X to 1600+ for B&W.
